Being Within [2024]

MA/MFA Computational Arts Degree Show, Goldsmiths, University of London, London

TOPOLOGY, Hypha Studios Paddignton, London (2024)

Being Within unveils the hidden life behind the impenetrable structure of St. James’ Hatcham Church. The artist transforms the church walls into membranes — a living interface between two worlds. The dynamic, tactile silicone surface blurs the boundary between interiority and exteriority, extending the exhibition space to the realm of the undiscovered. The breathing motion suggests a networked, unseen consciousness within the wall, and perhaps throughout the church. Being Within challenges our perception of space, urging us to consider what lies beyond the boundaries of what we see and what remains obscured. By inviting us to engage with this pulsating membrane, the artist encourages a deeper exploration of the connections between ourselves and the unseen, questioning how the walls are responding back to the human presence in the building. What can permeate through the divide? How is it oozing back what it has soaked in?
